Road safety education is a broad based activity which usually takes place in schools and other educational establishments. The process involves ideas and concepts based on teaching safe behaviours, developing informed attitudes and a heighten awareness of risk. It should be understood that the process is a stepped gradual process that builds over long periods of time, even years.

Training also plays a significant part by informing safe practice and will involve creating and developing practical skills to complement the education process.
